As the collapse of global supply chains highlights the fragility that comes with economic interdependence, the pandemic is fueling the rise of ethnonationalism. Policy decisions in response to the crisis will play an important role in determining the fate of the world economy.

COVID-19 is accelerating the backlash in many countries against hyper-globalization in the face of rising inequality. But policy makers can use this as an opportunity to create a more inclusive model of economic globalization that can facilitate world trade and investment while still maintaining a more equitable social bargain. In this presentation Professor Rodrik will explore the reform of globalization and economic strategies for creating inclusive societies.

There will be a time for Q&A after the presentation. Questions can be submitted using the Q&A function in Zoom. Alternatively they can be submitted in advance to [email protected].
