Alex Trew is a lecturer (assistant professor) in economics at the University of St Andrews. His research is focused on the relationship between economic geography and long-run growth, with an emphasis on regional financial development and the role of transport infrastructures in nineteenth century England and Wales. He has published on the industrial revolution in Review of Economic Dynamics and Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and in other macroeconomics journals.
