Alex Izurieta is a Senior Economic Affairs Officer in the Division on Globalization and Development Strategies (GDS) of UNCTAD, previously at UN/DESA, New York. His area of expertise is the analysis of global economic developments and the evaluation of policy scenarios with the help of macro-economic and global models. Prior to joining the UN system, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, as a Research Scholar at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, New York, and as a Researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University in The Hague. He has published in those institutions and in various international journals.
