- Francis Akindes, of Benin-Ivorian origin, is a professor of sociology at Alassane Ouattara University in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire since 2002. He obtained a doctorate in political and economic sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociale (EHESS) in Paris in 1990. He is the President of the Council of Scientific Research at Alassane Ouattara University, as well as the Director of Programs of the Unesco Chair of Bioethics. Above his scientific outreach, he is the President of the Scientific Council of the French Red Cross Fund, a member of the Scientific Council of AFD (French Development Agency), and a member of the Scientific Council of the Switzerland Scientific Research Center.
Amongst other things, his political science field interests include political transitions, political violence, the political economy of inequalities, analysis of public policies and policies that end crisis. He has been a visiting professor in several universities, including Oxford University (United Kingdom), Uppsala University (Sweden) and the Collège de France. He is the author of several articles, scientific books and documentaries focusing on various thematics.
